FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What is CMA?
A. Calcium Magnesium Acetate - CMA is used by many airports for deicing because of its low corrosive
effects on metals. When used in a blended ice melt, at least 75% CMA would be needed to show a difference.

Q. Is it necessary to use anything other than Rock Salt?
A. Rock Salt is a great product to use in mild temperatures, but if you live in a cooler climate where the
temperatures drop below 5 degrees Fahrenheit, your best choice is Calcium Chloride or one of our Blended
Products.

Q. What if my pet or child eats any of your ice melt products?
A. None of our products are considered toxic, but it is a good idea to contact your physician or veterinarian.
All products should be stored in sealed containers out of the reach of children and pets.

Q. Is it important to follow the instructions on the package?
A. Yes. Proper application is important to ensure the performance of the product and to avoid any damage.
More does not always mean better!

Q. Will deicers harm vegetation?
A. Most deicers will not harm vegetation if used as directed. Over application or accumulation in a small
area may result in damage. USE AS DIRECTED.

Q. Will deicers damage concrete?
A. Concrete is a porous substance. When snow and ice are melted with deicers, the melted water soaks
into concrete pores and becomes partially trapped. If this trapped water re-freezes, the resulting pressure
can be great enough to cause weak concrete to crack and flake. This is a physical process, not a chemical
one. It is a process primarily associated with the structural strength of the concrete, not the chemical nature
of the deicer.

Q. What is the best blended ice melt product on the market?
A. Road Runner - this product is a combination of Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and Sodium Chloride.

Q. Is Calcium Chloride safe for the environment?
A. Yes, when used and applied correctly Calcium Chloride is as safe as every other ice melter on the market.

Q. What is the most powerful ice melter in the industry?
A. Calcium Chloride - its natural heating capabilities allow it to begin the melting process without the help of the sun.
