FreezGard® is often used to prewet salt as road crews apply salt during and after a winter storm. This method coats the salt prior to it being applied to the highway.
In liquid form, FreezGard® begins melting immediately and creates a brine mixture that activates the road salt for faster melting action. When used as recommended, this not only begins the melting process faster, but also keeps more of the salt on the road.
